Scott started as a working cowboy a couple years out of high school down in Central Florida working cattle at a
couple of different ranches including Deseret Ranch, a nearly half million acre cow/calf ranch . This real life
experience made him determined to find new and effective ways to deal with unknown and untested horses
straight out of the pasture or trailered in from the Texas stockyards.

After a ranch accident on a different Florida ranch, resulting in a broken neck, he took a lot of time to figure out
the best ways to put a good handle on a horse.  Despite having no formal training back then he was consistent
and persistent and would always better a horse after long days in the saddle.

Later, he had been offered the position of horse handler at Universal Studios Florida back in the ‘90’s when the
horse reared up during an audition for a live cowboy show and he was the only “gymnast" wearing boots, or for
that matter a hat that stayed confident in the saddle! His path led him a different way though, eventually back
to Texas and his passion of working with horses in a natural setting and his own horse ranch.

The inspirational horsemen he gives all credit to include
Monty Roberts, for planting the seeds of Natural
Horsemanship and later to Craig Cameron who passed
along a no-nonsense approach to horsemanship and life
in general at his clinics.

Scott believes wholeheartedly in training horses to deal
with real-world situations and in training people to open
their minds to what their horses need from them.
Louise grew up in Wales, UK and began riding horses at the age of five thanks
to parents who thought it would be a nice one-off experience. She later
competed in show jumping, cross country and halter classes but mostly just
rode for the sake of being with any equine presence.

Following schooling in horse-unfriendly London she took a vacation to Texas
because "it was the cheapest place in the brochure" and landed square in the
middle of a guest/training/cutting operation close to Tarpley. Having previously
only been able to dream about learning about the language of the horse she
was fortunate enough to get a solid schooling for 2 years there when she was
invited back to work for the ranch (7 days a week, 10 hours a day!).
Round pen basics quickly led to feel for what motivated a horse, what
made him fearful, what allowed him to relax. She worked with horses from
the 15,000 acre Middle Verde ranch when they had to be caught and
handled for gelding and had never been approached by a human before.

Watching these horses try to throw themselves over impossibly high fences
because she stood in the center of an 80 foot round pen, she gained an
appreciation for just how wild these animals are at the root and how
trusting they have to become in order to assimilate into our lives.

She credits her understanding of the equine to Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt,
Craig Cameron, Buck Brannaman, Mark Rashid, Kathleen Lindley and for a
different but very helpful take, Linda Kohanov and Kate Vigneron who
showed her the wilds of West Texas and how everything in life was
interconnected!
